What is a Martingale collar?

Martingale collar is a type of collar that provides more control while dog is on the leash than buckle collars. Because it can be tightened with a pull of the leash, it helps prevent the dog from backing or slipping out of the collar, for those with special Houdini-style skills. Martingale collar was originally designed for sighthounds whose necks are larger than their heads and they often slip out of buckle collars. Martingale collars are considered by many trainers to be more humane than prong or slip collars.

How to wear

Extend the collar to be large enough to slip over the head of the dog down through to the neck. Then adjust the collar to fit around the neck, to rest comfortably on the lower part of the neck at the top of the shoulder.
